The building here represented is the civil hospital of Cagliari's Municipality. It was realized in 1856 by the architect Gaetano Cima, who was at the time the technical office director of the city.
The reason that generates this drawing is to support the publication of Professor Francesco Cherchi published in “Domus, 990, April 2015”. The aim is to describe the authority of the work of Cima. This work is an axonometric representation of the original project because today is polluted by different and disconnected additions.
It emphasizes the complexity of the plan, this configuration was a new functional organization for a hospital at that time, based on the prison scheme. With this solution, the architect defined 4 courtyards from where all the rooms could have natural light improving the quality of the the period of hospitalization.
